As a Belmont, NC family & child portrait photographer, I love capturing not only other families in the community but also my own family as well.
I'm currently in my Mom Era and really loving this new phase of my life. It feels like just yesterday that I welcomed my son, Brody, into the world. It's hard to believe he’s already 10 months old! Being a mom is truly one of the greatest joys of my life. Every moment spent with him is precious but most of all I love doing things together as a family.
As time flies by, I cherish witnessing the new milestones he meets every week. Recently, he started crawling, saying “mama” (and sometimes “Dada”), and exploring solid foods. His current favorites include cherries, collard greens, Cheerios, and bananas. Yes collards...who would have thought?

Each season, I capture Brody’s growth through beautiful natural light photos in various outdoor locations around Belmont and where I live. Dressing him up in stylish outfits, scouting for stunning backdrops, and taking family portrait photos is not just a hobby for me; it’s a cherished bonding experience. I envision that one day he will treasure these photos as much as Matt and I do.
Brody has also developed a fascination with three colorful balls that came with one of his dump-truck toys. The orange one was a highlight at this recent photoshoot we did outdoors in front of some evergreen trees. These lightweight balls, similar in size to a ping-pong ball, fit perfectly in his tiny hands. He's absolutely obsessed with them and has been for months and months. It's so funny.
My Evolving Style as a Family Photographer
My photography style has evolved significantly over the years. When I first began, I was drawn to the "matte edit" aesthetic that gave my photos that edgy look. At the time, I thought it was the coolest thing and would make all my portraits and nature photos matte. However, as I stepped into more professional work involving magazines and blogging, I transitioned towards a brighter, more natural approach. This vibrant aesthetic aligns with my personal style, which thrives on cheeriness and bright colors.
A Portrait Photography Style that Stands the Test of Time
Nowadays, I have a natural, vibrant, and timeless photography style that appeals to my family portrait clients. My branding and family portrait clients love it as it stays fashionable regardless of shifting trends.
The bright and airy aesthetic is perfect for family portraits and looks stunning when printed, particularly on metal, for wall displays. The durability and sleek, smooth appearance of metal prints add a distinctive dimension to my work, enabling families to preserve their memories for years. These pieces definitely make a statement. Metal prints are visually striking, long-lasting, and easy to maintain.
One of my favorite services we offer to our family portrait photography clients is the ability to order prints from your gallery. It's so awesome! It's fast and easy and my clients love it!
I'm Always On the Lookout for Great Photography Locations
Finding beautiful locations adds to the excitement of our photography sessions. I'm always scouting for great spots to take photos. Literally, Matt and I will be driving and we will point out spots for family photos. It's second nature to us these days.
When scouting, I'm looking for good light, color, flowers and foliage, pretty architecture, leading lines (trails, roads, walkways, etc.) and spots with rivers and lakes. Each shoot is a chance not only to create stunning images but also to remember pretty spots for future family portrait sessions.
Some of my favorite spots to take photos at in the Charlotte metro are are South Fork Catawba River, Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, Romare Bearden Park, Freedom Park, Downtown Belmont, and lots of other secret locations.
