My 2025 fall family sessions were a big hit. I could not happier with how they turned out. Everyone I worked with was so happy with their final galleries. I choose some fabulous locations for my sessions, one of which was Downtown Belmont, NC. It's so charming and was a perfect spot for photos.

I had so much fun photographing the Caughey family's fall session in Downtown Belmont. The day was unseasonably warm, which was great because everyone was able to dress comfortably and have fun walking around in the warm sunshine. As a Belmont, NC family photographer, I love being able to capture my local small town families in the city that they live and work in so that they can look back on this time of their lives with joy and pride.

When planning a family photoshoot, location is so important. I selected three key spots downtown that I wanted to use for different backdrops. They were all right beside each other so you didn't have to walk but a few steps to get to each location. It's such a neat area.

• Stowe Park by the water fountain: This spot offers a serene backdrop with walkways, open grassy spaces, and a charming fountain that adds a touch of elegance to the photos.

• Cobblestone stairs: The texture and historic feel of the cobblestone stairs provide a unique contrast to the softness of family portraits.

• Main Street: The heart of Belmont, Main Street offers vibrant urban charm with its quaint storefronts, restaurants and bars and lively atmosphere.

  
  

These locations gave us a variety of backdrops, from natural to urban, ensuring the family’s gallery would be unique with lots of variety.

Capturing Important Photos for Mom

Before the session began, I had a meaningful conversation with the mother and her daughter. She shared that she hadn’t had updated photos with her children in decades so this was really important to her. This session was more than just pictures; it was about capturing a long-overdue connection.

The daughter also mentioned it was her Mom's birthday recently and she she didn't have any good photos of her and her mom to post to Facebook.

I put these little nuggets of information in my back pocket and made sure during the session that I captured photos of Mom with all her kids together and great photos of just Mom and daughter. These were the top priority photos I couldn't forget!

My favorite images from the day were of Mom and Dad walking hand-in-hand down Main Street smiling at each other. Their expressions showed the love and pride in the family they created. These candid moments often tell the most powerful stories. I LOVE this photo so much and I'm so honored to have been able to capture it for them.
