Food Photographers Charlotte, NC | Photos for Food Blogger
As a food photographer in Charlotte, NC, I get to dive into the huge world of culinary artistry. I've been doing food photography for 8 years now so I have come along way and learned a lot. I would consider food photography (and food styling - a completely separate industry all together) to be one of the hardest niches of photography out there. It's no wonder why there's not a lot of competition in this niche - it takes years of practice and you need lot of patience.
I've had the privilege of working with many talented clients in the food and beverage scene, from bustling restaurants to passionate food bloggers and award winning bakers, allowing me to showcase their unique recipes, flavors, and presentations. Recently, I partnered with an local food blogger to take some pics for her website and I’m excited to share some of these images from our photoshoot!
Setting the Scene
Sometimes I go on location for food photography shoots but often, depending on the project, I can work from home creating magnetic imagery for my clients in my own creative environment. I did this shoot in my home kitchen using all of my own tools and equipment. Being in a familiar space gives me better control over lighting and styling. I worked with an artificial lighting setup, tripod, and huge skrim to create soft defused light coming in from the side which gave these images a really beautiful look.

Utilizing My Professional Food Styling Boards
One of my essential tools in food photography is my collection of professional styling backdrop boards. They are amazing! I LOVE them and use them so much in my business. From food shoots to product images, they always come in handy and look GREAT on camera.
With over 20 different colors and textures, I can choose the perfect background for each project. In this case, I selected a dark blue board for the back and a white board for the base. That combination complemented the vibrant blue hues of the blueberries. Paired with white cloths and dishes, the color palette turned out really beautiful. The tan color of the muffins really pop. The right backdrop can truly bring a dish to life!
Props Galore
To enrich the visual appeal of these blueberry muffin photos, I utilized a variety of props:
Ceramic mugs
Ceramic bowls
Metal muffin tins
Rustic looking brown Muffin liners
Small Plates
Extra blueberries
Sugar!
And LOTS and LOTS of crumbs!
It’s amazing how the right props can transform a simple dish into a stunning visual centerpiece.

Diverse Setups for A Variety of Unique Food Shots
Throughout the shoot, I created multiple setups, ensuring the food blogger had a diverse range of images. By capturing images from various angles and compositions (including birds eye view), my goal was to provide a variety of unique images for my client.
A lot of time and energy goes into creating just one single food image, so when it comes to food photography, quality over quantity is absolutely key! Each photo will become a powerful marketing asset that my client can use for their business.
The photos are so awesome. I love how they turned out!
