Waterfall Engagement Photos at Triple Falls in Dupont State Forest, NC

Caroline and Lane are truly one of the sweetest couples we've ever had the chance to photograph. From the very first message they sent, I knew this session was going to be something special. They already had a vision—a very clear one—for their engagement photos: mountains, waterfalls, and all the dreamy, adventurous vibes that come with them. Honestly, they came to the right place because if there’s one thing Matt and I know like the back of our hands, it’s the North Carolina mountains. We’ve spent so much time exploring, hiking, and scouting all the best photo spots, especially the waterfalls that make you stop and say, “Okay, wow.”

So off we went from Charlotte to Dupont State Forest in Brevard, NC—home to some of the most iconic waterfalls in the state. Triple Falls was the star of the show for this session, and it did not disappoint. The trails were glowing with that soft mountain light, the air was crisp, and the sound of rushing water made everything feel extra magical. It’s one of those places where you can’t take a bad photo even if you tried.

Caroline and Lane were total naturals in front of the camera. They laughed, they snuggled, they adventured across rocks and trails like they do this every weekend. We captured a mix of candid moments and those classic, romantic poses that make engagement sessions so timeless. And of course, Matt and I had a blast getting creative with angles, reflections, and the dramatic backdrop of the falls.

But the grand finale? Oh, it was epic.

Caroline had one last request before we wrapped up: she really wanted photos sitting in the river, as in, getting wet. And when a bride-to-be has a vision, we’re going to make it happen. So into the freezing cold water they went—no hesitation, just pure excitement. The sun was setting, the water was icy, and suddenly they were splashing each other like kids on summer vacation. It was playful, spontaneous, and honestly one of my favorite moments from the entire day.

Those images turned out absolutely stunning. The movement, the laughter, the golden light reflecting off the water—it all came together in the most beautiful way. I LOVE these photos. They feel adventurous, romantic, and completely true to who Caroline and Lane are as a couple.
