Photographing event photography in Charlotte, NC is one of my favorite types of shoots, Family celebrations are some of the most fun and rewarding sessions I get to photograph. I love being in the mix of happy joyfilled people coming together to celebrate a huge milestone in someones life. These shoots are laid back, super fun, and I'm able to really let my creativity shine. They are also a great way to network and meet other nice people in the community.

I recently had the fantastic opportunity to capture fun family birthday party celebration photos at Cordelia Park in Uptown Charlotte for a sweet local families.
It was a joint 6th birthday and a 40th birthday for a son and his father. The energy was so positive and friendly. Many family members and friends traveled from all over the country to celebrate the two birthday honorees.
This party demonstrates how love and joy can bring everyone together, creating an unforgettable experience. The photos turned out so beautiful and have become cherished memories for the families and friends that will last a lifetime.
I'm really delighted to have been part of their special day!
The Venue: Cordelia Park in Uptown Charlotte + Skyline Views!
The party took place at Cordelia Park, located in the vibrant heart of Uptown's NODA district. With stunning views of the Charlotte skyline, the park made a perfect urban setting for this unique family celebration.
This was my first visit to Cordelia Park—I hadn't heard of it until this shoot, but it's definitely a hidden gem. I was amazed by the incredible city views. The park features an indoor pavilion available for rent, a vast green space, playgrounds, picnic areas, a community pool and splash pad, and numerous accessible spots to enjoy the stunning Charlotte skyline!
All The Little Details...From birthday party themed t-shirts and monogrammed koozies to a bounce house!
It was clear that the families spared no effort in planning this celebration. From the colorful lego theme and monogrammed decorations to the energetic DJ (who has played at their events for years and is like family to them), to face painting and bubbles... every detail was carefully thought out.
A standout feature was the really cute Lego assembly table. The kids loved it! They gathered around using their creativity and imagination and built everything from towers to spaceships. The joy on their faces was so sweet, and the candid shots I captured of them here are some of my favorites from the day.
This party felt like a true family reunion, with warmth and friendship shining in every single photo.
I moved around the entire event discreetly, capturing all the memorable moments as they happened. As a Charlotte family event photographer, I’m comfortable approaching people to ask if I can take their photo—it’s essential. My approach involves capturing a variety of detailed shots (like food and decor), candid moments of children and adults enjoying themselves and interacting, as well as posed group photos with different combinations of people. I never remain in one place; I’m constantly on the move to capture all the unique moments as the unfold.
As I wrapped up the day and took in all the joy and happiness around me, I felt incredibly thankful to be a photographer. I genuinely LOVE what I do! Celebrations like this event enable me to indulge in my passion and creativity — capturing heartfelt moments and creating gorgeous photos that families will cherish forever.
