As a Charlotte family photographer, I love getting to photography families in all season but especially Spring and Fall - I LOVE colors so these seasons definitely allow me to get creative and produce beautiful art for me and for my clients.

Welcome to the Boatwright family’s fall family photo session! The session was at a beautiful local park. We had perfect weather, gorgeous light, and I ended up capturing so many special photos of this sweet family of three. They reached out and booked a session because they had not had family photos in years and knew it was time to capture this special moment in time especially with their little girl growing up so fast. I couldn't wait to help them get some stunning photos that would really WOW their socks off.

Fall Family Photography Session - Fun Candids & Posed Photos

We started the session on the main walking trail at the top of the hill. We found a pretty trail with whimsy grass trailing along the path which added a nice textural element to the photos. We captured standing shots, sitting shots on a blanket with a mix of candids and posed photos. I also made sure to get different combinations of everyone.

During the second half of the session we moved down the hill and took some fun family walking shots in front of a beautiful background of red foliage. The color was really popping in this area. We also captured some shots in front of a serene pond with a beautiful fall reflection. LOVE this one!

Their daughter was really sweet and loved having her photos taken so I followed her around for a bit while she danced and twirled in her dress. I find that allowing kids to be kids during a session is the best way to make it to the end with happy kiddos who are smiling, laughing, and having fun - plus, the best candid shots happen when kids are just playing and being themselves!

We wrapped up our time together by capturing some photos of just mom and dad in the golden light. This is a priority for me, because many of my client haven’t had a professional photo of just the two of them since their wedding. These turned out to be my favorites of the day. So much love!
